Meeting Place: Bull Shoals-White River State Park

The White River is one of the nation’s finest trout streams. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, there is something here for you! Activities include trout cooking demonstrations, fly tying demonstrations, fly fishing 101, river cruises, lake cruises, and children’s programs including interpreter favorites Incredible Caster and Kid’s Campfire Cooking.


Lake Cruize Admission: $12 adults, $6 children ages 6-12, under 6 free Meeting Place: Bull Shoals Lake Boat Dock 10 am to 11:30 am     

Note repeats again in the evening 6 to 7:30 fees apply                             

Sign up in advance for a relaxing cruise on Bull Shoals Lake. Sit back and enjoy the breezes as we explore this fascinating area of the Ozarks.

Admission: Free  Fly Fishing Basics Meeting Place: Trout Dock        1- 2:00 pm                             

Join a park interpreter for this wonderful demonstration of how to fish the White River. Fishing for the elusive trout in the cold, clear White River is a different adventure than fishing for warm water fish. Join us to learn about the different species of trout and the multitude of bait used to catch them. We will also explore the basics of fishing gear.  

Admission: Free  HISTORY OF THE BULL SHOALS DAM  2-4pm

Meeting Place: James A. Gaston Visitor Center

Take a walk through history with this multi-media presentation on the building and operation of the Bull Shoals Dam and Powerhouse. Join a Bull Shoals-White River State Park volunteer as they guide you through this journey back in time. Explore the fascinating history of Bull Shoals Dam and learn some amazing facts about this engineering marvel. Program will start on the hour and half-hour and is approximately 25 minutes long.


Admission: Free 9 am to 12 pm

Meeting Place: Trout Dock 

The big finale of the weekend will be the Father's Day Fishing Tournament. The tournament registration will begin that day at 8:30 a.m. at the State Park Trout Dock. The fishing time will be from 9-11:30 a.m. There will be a variety of prizes for many fun categories that will be awarded at the close of the tournament. A team will consist of any adult with children. All fishing regulations apply. There is no registration fee.

This just-for-fun trout fishing tournament is designed for children and their fathers, grandfathers, or guardians. You might win prizes and certificates for a variety of wacky categories. Lots of door prizes available. Come dressed alike or in your goofiest outfits. Contact the park for further details.

RIVER CRUIZE Admission: $20 per person Meeting Place: Trout Dock       2-3:30 pm                              

Join a park interpreter for a guided John boat tour down the White River. We will take four lucky folks on a journey to learn a little about the history of the river and try to scope out some of our native wildlife. River conditions may limit availability. Sign up in advance at the trout dock. Seats are limited!
