This was the result of members of the local community reaching out to the
Mid-Marion County ROTARY Club, which for years has
sponsored the parade, to assume sponsorship of the entire festival.
From local businesses that rely on significant sales during the
festival to longtime residents remembering the tradition of bringing the community
together for family, friends, and high school reunions;
ROTARY listened and voted to sponsor the festival as an important fundraising
effort to support our local youth in Marion County.
The center of the Chamber’s decision was the tradition of tossing wild turkeys from an airplane over the festival.
Fifty years ago that was an accepted procedure to re-populate wild turkeys in the Ozarks.
The ROTARY Club agrees that this tradition is no longer viable. Controversy surrounding the cruelty of
dropping turkeys from planes or buildings that have plagued previous sponsorship efforts have conditioned
ROTARY’s sponsorship. In the event turkeys are dropped, ROTARY will withdraw sponsorship of
future festivals and youth programs within the community will be severely impacted.
I am looking for the schedule but here is what we have so far.

Thank you Marion County Rotory Club for trusting that our community can come together
and celebrate a long time festival and follow one simple rule. NO LIVE ANIMALS
except registered vendors with permission.
The FFA will have a booth as a petting farm for the public to see as ask questions.
On a Personal Note from us:
IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE KNOWN AS THAT
"JERK THAT KILLED TURKEY TROT " FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE...
DO NOT BRING IN ANY LIVE ANIMAL TO THIS EVENT....
THIS IS NOT A JOKE, OR A DARE AND IT IS NOT FUNNY AT ALL
IF YOU HAVE THE ATTITUDE OF "THEY CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO...STAY HOME"
....JUST DO NOT DO IT!
